"Brutal" attack on Banbury man in own home

Police are describing an attack on a Banbury man in his own home as "brutal".

At around 12.05am in the early hours of Sunday (8/4), three men wearing balaclavas and armed with hammers and bats gained access to the property by smashing the front door of the home in Merton Street.

 The victim, a 31-year-old man, was asleep in bed when he was assaulted by the men.

 The men then left the property and the victim stumbled out of his address and raised the alarm with other residents.

 The victim was taken by ambulance to the Horton General Hospital with a head injury. He has since been discharged.

 Investigating officer Detective Constable Bryan Groves of Force CID at Banbury said: “This was a brutal attack in the victims’ own home.

 “It has left him feeling very frightened for his safety.

 “I am appealing for anyone with any information about this offence, or anyone who saw this offence in progress, to come forward to the police or report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
