New method of awarding Social Housing places to be considered
The current method of allocating social housing in Chipping Norton is being reviewed - and local residents now have the chance to have a say.
At the moment, anyone who wants either rented or part-ownership social housing has to get on the official waiting list. Each applicant is awarded points by the district council. Under the current nomination policy, those deemed to have the greatest needs get the highest points.
People who are homeless or living in overcrowded conditions are considered to be the most in need. The council's current policy also has preferences for people with a local connection to the district, and for those regarded as 'key workers'.
Residents are being invited to send in their own suggestions as to how those points are scored, and any changes they'd like to see.
The current Nominations Poicy can be viewed online at www.westoxon.gov.uk/allocations.
