No replacement post office for Grimsbury

Grimsbury won't be getting its own post office again despite a campaign involving local people and MP Tony Baldry.

He wrote to the firm earlier this year expressing concern on behalf of residents who were finding it hard to get to the Post Office in the centre of town after the old one in Grimsbury was closed a few years ago.

Post Office Limited say if they were to look into bringing a branch back to the area in the future, issues like the customer demand and impact on other businesses would need to change.

Worries about new Banbury country park

There are concerns a new country park near Banbury could attract criminals.

The site on farmland by the M40 sits partly on land in South Northamptonshire and was given the go ahead earlier this year.

The council there says it's worried the remote location of the car park at the site could attract crime and anti-social behaviour.

They're going to write to their counterparts at Cherwell to seek reassurances about what they're doing to prevent any problems.

Planning inquiry into windfarm plans

A planning inquiry's starting after developers lodged an appeal against a council's decision to turn down plans for a windfarm on land between Banbury and Brackley.

Broadview Energy want to put up 5 turbines on land near Helmdon after initial proposals were turned down last year by South Northamptonshire Council.

The firm says the wind farm would generate enough electricity for more than five and a half thousand homes and they've addressed residents worries about the size of the development.

However locals say the turbines would be too near their homes.

The Government will announce a final decision on the project later this year.

Plans to build 85 new homes in Bloxham have been met with oppositon from decision makers in the village.

The Parish Council says the proposals by Gladman Developments would mean the area is over-developed without sufficient infrastructure to cope with the increased population.

We're still waiting for a comment from the developers.
