Charity calls for fuel VAT cut

Wednesday, May 23rd 2012 09:00

The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance say they would welcome moves to cut VAT on the fuel helicopters use.

A petition has been set up on the Downing Street website after one air ambulance said rising fuel costs were putting their future in doubt.

A group of MPs is also backing the calls claiming slashing VAT would save the charities thousands of pounds each year and pay for more lifesaving rescues.

If the petition reaches 100,000 signatures it will be debated in Parliament.
